Among the several partnerships with other Associations,
one partnership that is worth mentioning is the Lesotho
Football Association – England Football Association
partnership under the Meridian Project. The Meridian
Project is an initiative of the Congress of African Football -
CAF and the Union of European Football Associations –
UEFA. The initiative is aimed at strengthening ties
between the economically challenged CAF member
Associations and the economically viable UEFA member
Associations.
In the Meridian Project, a UEFA Member Association
adopts two or three CAF Member Associations. The
partnership then sets to maximize football activities be it
technical or administrative.
In the case of the Lesotho Football Association, Lesotho
together with Botswana and Malawi are adopted by
England. The partnership has so far yielded immense
results for football development in the Kingdom of
Lesotho. Basotho coaches and referees have had the
opportunity of enhancing their football knowledge in
England. Concurrently, the English FA has over the years
sent instructors to Lesotho to conduct coaching courses
for elite as well as grassroots coaches. This year (2008), Lesotho got a rare opportunity of hosting
the head coach of the English Senior National Coach
